Welcome and Introduction
Sally Bloom, Longleaf Film Festival Co-Organizer

Remarks and Awards
Laura Boyes, Film Curator

Laura Boyes serves as 2019 emcee for the Longleaf Film festival Awards CeremonyLaura Boyes is film curator at the North Carolina Museum of Art, but she may be more widely known as organizer of the Moviediva Film Series at the Carolina Theatre of Durham—this season’s theme, she notes, celebrates tough, wise-cracking, glamorous Pre-Code women with “spirit-lifting comedy and strong female characters. They don’t play second fiddle to men, self-sabotage, fall down for no reason, or settle for less.” This is also her 16th year on the selection committee of Durham’s Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, and she is a monthly contributor, with Marsha Gordon, to WUNC’s Movies on the Radio segment of The State of Things with host Frank Stasio.
