- Reception for Filmmakers and Friends
Between opening film blocks A and B and our evening Movies-N-Moonlight film block, stick around and enjoy the Longleaf community of Official Selections filmmakers, their friends, and all their, and our, supporters. Enjoy music, appetizers, and drinks, as well as opportunities to network and learn! Tickets are required for entry to the reception. Note: The reception has sold out! Online registration is now closed. - Movies-N-Moonlight, our Friday evening, outdoor screen block!
Like all our film blocks, this one is free; but it’s also outside, bathed in moonlight! Some seating will be provided, or bring your own as a guarantee. Note: While the independent films screened are not rated by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), most would fall within the PG-13 range. Friday, May 10, 8:30–10 p.m. - *Off-Site Workshop: Intro to Virtual Production, a workshop presented by and at Triality Studios. This off-site session for filmmakers will provide a look at North Carolina’s first Unreal Engine–driven stage for video production. The session is free, but registration is required; space is limited. Maps and directions available; transportation is not provided. Saturday, May 11, 9–10:30 a.m. Online registration is now closed; this workshop is full.
- *In-House Workshop: The Independent Filmmaker’s Production Packet, an interactive session that looks at types of legal documents, the risks of not using them, and the considerations that go into each one. This session is free, but registration is required; space is limited. Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m.–noon. Online registration is now closed. This workshop is full. Check at the registration table in the museum lobby to see if space is available.
- *In-House Workshop: It’s Been a Decade: How It Started/How It’s Going, a panel discussion with filmmaker Chris Everett that takes a look back at the last ten years of independent filmmaking in North Carolina: what has changed, what has remained the same, and what lies ahead. This session is free, but registration is required; space is limited. Saturday, May 11, 2–3 p.m. Online registration is now closed. This workshop is full. Check at the registration table in the museum lobby to see if space is available.
- Awards Ceremony
Be here to congratulate all winners Longleaf as cash prizes and our signature tiles are awarded in multiple categories. Applaud at will with host David Menconi. The ceremony is free and open to the public; space is limited. Saturday, May 11, following the final film block in Daniels Auditorium. - Wrap Party!
That’s a wrap! This is a FREE public reception for friends, family members, and other supporters of filmmakers and Longleaf in the Voodoo Room event space at the Big Easy—just a few blocks from the Museum of History, at 222 Fayetteville Street. Your favorite beverage is on you; munchies are on Longleaf. Saturday, May 11, following the awards ceremony.
*Workshops are programmed by festival staff separately from Official Selections.
