A film festival, like most events, is more than the sum of its parts. Our obvious parts include, of course, screening TERRIFIC films, making fresh popcorn, throwing fun parties, and welcoming filmmakers and film fans.
But Longleaf also offers the opportunity for sharing lessons learned, imparting inspiration, and discussing common issues. These opportunities can take place in our workshops and panel sessions, and arranging them is next on my to-do list.
Pondering topics, guests, and possibilities for Longleaf 2018, an acrostic came to mind (thanks, George Moses Horton):
Welcoming • Wonder • Wide-Angle
Observing • Open • Opticals
Reconnecting • Reinforce • Reel
Knowing • Kindle • Key Light
Sharing • Seize • Scene
Honoring • Help • Handheld Shot
Offering • Organize • Outtakes
Participating • Practice • Premiere
