What legal documents will you need when starting your next production? Join Thomas Varnum, a partner with Brooks Pierce, to understand what’s important to have in writing—for both narrative and documentary filmmakers. Varnum will discuss types of legal documents, the risks of not using them, and the considerations that go into each one.
Attorney Thomas Varnum represents individuals and companies active in all types of entertainment projects, from film and television to online videos and other media. He regularly collaborates with independent producers and other filmmakers, counseling clients throughout the pre-production, production, post-production, and distribution processes, and he has represented and negotiated with production companies, talent, and entertainment lawyers from all over the country—all to help talented people carry creative ideas from inception to the screen.
Thomas also exercises a personal interest in film and television, and is active in North Carolina’s film industry, by teaching, as adjunct professor of entertainment law at Elon University, and by serving, for six years, on the board of trustees for Cucalorus Film Festival, one of the largest independent film festivals in the Southeast.
